ArtdeCiel.com aims to create a community of astronomical photographers who work towards a common goal of promoting their work to a wider audience and at the same time sharing knowledge with each other in order to improve the already high level of their ‘Art’; and to encourage those who are new to the subject through discussion and by example. If you register you will help us all to achieve these goals by taking part in our three main ‘focal points’: ‘Exposure’ - our knowledge and information sharing blog; and ‘Firstlight’ – our discussion forum; and 'Spotlight', our member galleries – a show case of the work of our registered astrophotographers where you can help choose those images which will appear in the site’s main galleries and therefore become - ‘Art de Ciel’. In return, we will provide with you a number of resources to help you: ? Don’t know what to image? ● Then search our image database of over 100,000 potential targets! ? Will my Camera and Telescope combination be suitable to image a particular object? ● Use our CCD Calculator Gizmo to find out! ? What magnification will my Eyepieces give with my new telescope? ● Use our Eyepiece Calculator Gizmo to find out? ? What is the Moon doing tonight? Will it ruin my imaging schedule? ● Use our Moon Phase calendar to find out! ? What Lunar Features are best to image tonight? ● Then use our Lunar Features database to find out! ? What is the Weather Forecast for my Observing Site Tonight? ● Then use our Weather Gadget to Find Out And Much More! All we ask of you when you register is to provide some details on yourself, like your name, the type of telescopes, cameras and mounts you use as well as your observing site location. This will benefit you when you log on because many of the resources in the member areas make use of this information, e.g. it is used to determine which objects are visible from your location at a given time, and the weather forecast for where you are!.
